Coding, AI and robotics for children aged 4-17

Where kids come because it sounds fun and stay because they built something themselves.

In-person classes · Small groups, individual approach · Dutch & English

A teacher and three children building an electronic gadget together, with a tablet on the table, at Impact Academies in Amsterdam

From using tech to making it

Children stop being just players and users and start building their own games, apps and gadgets.

Skills that last

Hands-on projects teach problem solving, logic and real coding, skills they will keep using long after the session ends.

Ideas made real

They turn their own ideas into working projects, and they get to show off what they built.

Serious about fun

Children learn best when they enjoy it, so every session is built around play, friends and a good laugh.

Here’s what our students learnt to build

A closer view of the 3D challenge park built by Lotte: green hills, winding paths and pink obstacles
“I have been studying at Impact for a long time and completed many different courses. I always learn something new and interesting. Here I created a real challenge park full of obstacles to overcome. Who said IT isn’t for girls?”

LotteIT-Master

A phone game made with MIT App Inventor: balloons over a meadow full of flowers, with a score and a Start button
“During the course we created games and mobile applications using MIT App Inventor. What interested me the most were marketplaces. I created my own project and also came up with interesting business ideas for the future.”

DaanIT-Senior

Milan’s Python code beside the Telegram bot it powers, showing catalogue and order buttons
“At first I only wanted to study game design, but I also started enjoying programming. During the course I created my first project - a Telegram bot for selling clothes with buttons and features that I designed myself. It’s my first experience and I’m proud of it!”

MilanIT-Senior

A space shooter game: rows of UFOs above a neon grid, a small spaceship below and a score panel
“I’m really excited because I managed to create my own game! It has a spaceship and UFOs. To score points, you need to shoot the UFOs by clicking on the ship. This is my first space project!”

LuukIT-Expert

A Python game in the style of Angry Birds: a red bird on a crate and a green pig on a tower of boxes
“At Impact A&C I have already started writing Python code and created my first projects. This motivates me to keep going! In the future I want to work in IT and become a Game Developer, so this step is very important for me.”

Choosing a course

What ages are the courses for?

Impact Academies Amsterdam offers technology courses for children and teenagers aged 4-17. The programme is divided into age-appropriate levels, from LEGO® Little Engineers for the youngest children to IT-Expert for teenagers.

Which course is right for my child?

We recommend a course based on your child’s age, experience and interests. Whether they enjoy games, robotics, design, artificial intelligence or programming, we will help you find the most suitable group.

Does my child need previous coding experience?

No. Beginners are welcome. Children with previous experience can join a more advanced group after we assess their current knowledge and interests.

What will my child learn?

Depending on their age and course, students explore coding, robotics, game development, artificial intelligence, web development, graphic design, 3D modelling and digital literacy. They also develop communication, teamwork, creativity and presentation skills.

How lessons work

How are the lessons taught?

Our lessons are practical and project-based. Children learn by creating their own games, animations, websites, applications, robots and digital projects, not simply by listening to theory.

In which language are the classes taught?

Classes are taught in both Dutch and English. English is especially important in technology, so children naturally develop their language skills while learning IT. At the same time, every child can ask questions and receive support in whichever language feels most comfortable.

How often do lessons take place?

Classes take place once a week, and each lesson lasts two hours. The exact day and time depend on the group you choose.

How large are the groups?

We work with small groups of usually 6-8 children, allowing each child to receive support and personal attention. A group may occasionally have up to 15 children.

Does my child need to bring a laptop?

All equipment needed for the chosen course is included in the price, including laptops, tablets, robots and LEGO®.

Will my child spend the entire lesson in front of a screen?

We are very aware of children’s screen time, and this is exactly why we created these courses: to help children learn how to build with technology, not just consume it. Lessons combine focused computer work with teamwork, creative exercises, presentations, energising activities and other screen-free moments.

Joining and support

Can my child try a lesson before enrolling?

Yes, we offer free demo lessons so your child can meet the teacher and future classmates, explore what we do, and see how they can create their own project using technology.

Can my child join after a course has already started?

Yes, joining after a course has started is possible. Contact us so we can evaluate the options and find the most suitable group for your child.

How can parents follow their child’s progress?

Parents and children have access to their own online account. Children can view study materials and homework and track their projects, while parents can follow their child’s progress.

What happens if my child misses a lesson?

Please let us know as early as possible. We will always try to find a suitable catch-up solution, depending on the course and available space, but a replacement lesson cannot always be guaranteed.

What if my child needs additional learning support?

Please contact us before registration and tell us about any learning, health or accessibility needs that may affect participation. We will discuss what support may reasonably be provided and whether the selected group is suitable.
